New Years' Greetings

Japanese "Nengajo"
Digital Greeting Cards

In Japan there is a custom of sending out greeting cards to friends and relatives to celebrate the new year, called "nengajo". The cards often feature imagery associated with the Chinese zodiac animal for the coming year (Rat, Ox, Tiger, etc.)

The web development company I worked for from 2020 to 2023 had a tradition of creating a fun digital online nengajo to send to clients at the end of each year. Above you can see our 2021 (year of the cow) and 2023 (year of the rabbit) nengajo. For both of these years, I was the main team member in charge of concept, planning, and coding. Asset design and illustration were handled by my fellow team members. <3

About

Dylan Burns

Hello! I'm Dylan, and I make cute things for cute people*. I've been designing and developing websites, games, and other fun things on the computer since I was little. I love all things digital and paper, and I love combining the two to create new and interesting experiences. I earned my degree in Web and Multimedia Environments at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I am currently based in Tokyo.

*"Cute people" are people who like to play - to use their imagination, to try new things, and to get a little silly. Cute is a state of mind that anybody can embrace if they choose to.
